Contemporary line portrait of Blessed Karl of Austria, 20th century royal. A family man, his devotion to his wife and children showcased the true power of the domestic church. Karl ascended the throne as the last emperor of Austria-Hungary during the tumultuous years of the first world war in 1916. He saw his position as one of holy duty and was steadfast in his drive to promote justice and peace, even to the point of exile. He died separated from his homeland and family at the young age of 35.
The story goes that the mother of Pope St. John Paul II wanted to honor this beloved peacemaker and so named her son Karol.
Please continue to pray for the intercession of Blessed Karl - information on his cause can be found at www.emperorcharles.org
